OUR PRACTICE, OUR PEOPLE
Bellsquarry Dentistry opened in 2011 when John-James and Emma bought over the previous NHS practice which had been present for 7 years. Previous to this the building has had several functions including a home and even a Chinese restaurant.
Emma has worked hard and her brilliant reputation has seen the practice triple in patient numbers since she took over. We continue to welcome new patients and their families daily to our practice and all of this by word of mouth.Emma has partaken in post graduate studies to allow her to provide high end dentistry including implants, composite veneers and all other treatments expected of a professional and caring dental practice. Emma was the highest provider of childsmile preventive fluoride treatment in Scotland this being reflective of her post-graduate diploma in Dental Public Health and her endorsement of evidence based preventive dentistry.
The practice has grown from strength to strength and now offers Smile, independent dentistry and NHS for our children and exempt adult patients.
Our vision has been compassionate, preventative dentistry with unending pursuit of excellence through continued professional development.
We would love to you to join our beautiful practice so give us a call.
Under Scottish Government advice we are providing all oral health care and have all procedures in place to be COVID safe. Please call the practice and we can answer any questions you may have.
Principal and Owner, BDS(UGlasg) DipDSed Merit(LOND) PGDipDPH(UGlasg)
I qualified in dentistry in 1998 from Glasgow University and since then I have trained in post-graduate dental education in London, Glasgow and Manchester with qualifications in implants, sedation, minimally invasive dentistry and dental public health. I am also a judge on the prestigious Scottish Dental Awards board, an associate member of Implantologists and a vocational trainer for newly qualified dentists.
I get a real sense of joy showing my patients how simply we can help them gain confidence in their smiles. I am an advocate of minimally invasive dentistry which aims to protect teeth as much as possible and at the same time providing beautiful white smiles for all our adults and children.
Dentistry is literally taking off digitally and all of this is centred on what our patients need and want. Our vision is to embrace this and provide the most gentle and beautiful dentistry in Scotland, working alongside our patients so that they are fully involved in their smiles and well-being.
My husband and practice director, John-James and I have four boys who are sport mad particularly rugby and American football. We love to watch the Scottish Rugby team at Murrayfield and internationally. We also enjoy theatre, music, good food and wine, gym, and spending our Summer holiday in France volunteering with amazing people who have disabilities.
Orthodontist BDS MFDS RCSEd PGDip (Ortho)
Fraser graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 with commendation. He then went on to successfully complete his vocational training year in general practice, learning all aspects of both general and cosmetic dentistry, and in 2010 he passed the requisite examinations to become a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Fraser’s passion is for delivering beautiful cosmetic results for his patients using the best treatments that will support long term dental health. Having spent many years within the field of cosmetic dentistry, Fraser developed a love of orthodontics and commenced further study in this field. He now focuses his practice on this aspect of dentistry, and treats both adults and children, both under the NHS and independently, using a variety of orthodontic appliance types.
Fraser has trained extensively around the UK and Europe, learning from some of the leading experts in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics. He previously held a position as a lecturer and opinion leading dentist for dental materials manufacturer Ivoclar Vivadent as well as being on the editorial board of Dentistry Scotland magazine, and a judge for the Dentistry Scotland Awards. He is also a former trainer of newly qualified dentists for NHS Scotland. He prides himself in delivering excellence in orthodontics, providing his patients with tailored treatment plans that support their cosmetic and dental health needs, delivering beautiful smiles every time.
Registered Dental Nurse
My name is Sarah Campbell & I am a qualified GDC registered Dental Nurse.
What I like about being a dental nurse is that it is a fast moving industry. There are different experiences with every patient and what I enjoy the most is getting to know them.
In my spare time I like to go on long walks with my dog. I also enjoy having a relaxing night in watching movies with my family, socialising with friends, & travelling and seeing the world.
Dental Hygienist and Therapist
I qualified as a Dental Hygienist and Therapist from the Edinburgh Dental Institute in 2010, and have been working in mixed NHS and Private practices since.
Prior to this I worked in different Science and Health based positions for 7 years after completing my honours degree in Biological and Health Sciences. Health promotion and disease prevention always interested me and I discovered that life at a desk or a lab bench wasn’t for me - I wanted to be working with people! So I went back to studying (again!) to complete my diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy.
I love my role in helping people understand their own mouth and how to look after it themselves at home- Prevention is always the best cure! And of course I’m here to help treat conditions that are already present. I strongly believe we don’t just treat teeth/gums - we treat the person at the other end of them too 😁 - so I find this way of thinking really helps me to build trust and success in working with particularly nervous patients.
I am married with one child (a girl), and myself and my husband teach the Martial Art Tae Kwon-Do twice a week (which I’ve been doing for over 20 years now) . So I don’t always have a lot of spare time over and above that, but I do enjoy and try to fit in some yoga and walking.
It’s great to be on the team here at Bellsquarry and I look forward to seeing you in the future!
I’m part of the hygiene-therapy duo here at Bellsquarry Dentistry. I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2016 with a BSc Honours Degree in Oral Sciences.
I aim to deliver pain-free and thorough hygiene therapy treatments. I enjoy building a rapport with clients and putting those at ease who may be apprehensive about dental treatment. I try to have an informative and kind approach, striving to continually provide the best care for my patients on their journey to better oral and general health.
In 2014 I travelled to Sri Lanka with a Scottish charity to provide much-needed dental care to children in rural schools. It was a very rewarding but emotional trip and I hope to travel there again to follow up the work that we carried out.
I have continued commitment to self-development through attending regular courses to provide the highest quality preventative and restorative treatment for both adults and children. I have undertaken additional courses in facial aesthetics and teeth whitening, as well as an implant maintenance course.
Outside of work I enjoy eating out, trying out new cocktail bars, travelling and spending time with my two dachshunds.
Since going into business with Emma, I have grown to thoroughly enjoy being involved in the day to day running of the practice, witnessing the practice evolve, and welcoming all to the practice with a smile, compassion, understanding &, where appropriate, a laugh. Our pursuit for excellence is key but our family atmosphere stands us apart.
I have a dual life; maintaining my career in Acting, where possible. Being an artist I have a love for Art, a passion for theatre, rugby, music, cooking, & being with my 4 boys...& Emma!
